Jeremy Hsu: Computer Science at Penn State, founder of Weaver Capital LP, undergraduate researcher in locomotion and robotics.

Penn State · B.S. Computer Science, College of Engineering · Aug 2025 to May 2028 · West Chester, PA

I’m a Computer Science undergraduate at Penn State, College of Engineering, graduating May 2028.

Most of what I do sits between software engineering and statistics. I build systematic trading strategies, but more of the hours go into the infrastructure. That’s the part that keeps a strategy running unattended without diverging from the one I tested.

I founded Weaver Capital LP in January 2026 and run a multi-strategy systematic portfolio there, across futures and equities on intraday, swing, and macro horizons. Two of the strategies are live: Rime, a daily ETF regime allocator, and Fifth Sanctuary, an intraday gold volatility-expansion system. I wrote the execution infrastructure too, in Python and C#, with automated strategy synchronization, enforced position and drawdown limits, atomic state persistence across restarts, and sub-second order handling. I also built the data pipelines and the portfolio optimization that allocates capital across uncorrelated sleeves.

Since August 2026 I’ve also been an undergraduate researcher in the Locomotion in Biology and Robotics (LiBR) Lab under Dr. Baxi Chong, building physics simulations of multi-body contact dynamics in MuJoCo. I model an articulated three-section snake robot navigating confined tunnel geometry, evaluating gait strategies in simulation before hardware testing, and I’m working on scaling laws for computational versus mechanical cost of transport. It’s a long way from futures, which is part of why I wanted it. The common thread is controlling a system you can only partially observe.

In summer 2024 I was a research intern with the Robot Perception and Navigation Group at the University of Delaware, where I built a 2D SLAM pipeline on a TurtleBot3 in C++ with ROS 2 and Google Cartographer, then integrated Nav2 for autonomous waypoint navigation on the resulting map.

Before college I founded FTC #16468 Green Lemons Robotics and ran it for six seasons, writing the autonomous control software in Java. We finished #1 OPR globally among more than 8,000 teams at the 2024 World Championships.

Outside of all that, I train taekwondo. I earned my 4th degree black belt in 2025, certified by Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo headquarters in Seoul.

What I’m looking for

Summer 2027 internships in software engineering, quantitative development, or quantitative research. I’m most useful where the modeling and the systems work are the same problem: research infrastructure, backtesting and simulation frameworks, execution systems, and data pipelines that have to be correct.
